Requirements
In order to achieve a full PPL(A), the minimum logged flight time of a student on time of the application of the skill test must amount to 45 hours. However, the average student will require additional hours depending on the individuals’ abilities. Of the 45 hours, they must include at least:
-
35 hours with an instructor (dual).
-
10 hours supervised solo flight time (PIC), including at least 5 hours of solo cross-country flight time with at least 1 cross-country flight of at least 270 km (150 NM), during which full stop landings at 2 aerodromes different from the aerodrome of departure shall be made.
The frequency of flight training is dependent on the student’s own availability and time management.

Before a student completes his/her first solo, (s)he must obtain at least a class 2 medical certificate issued by a qualified aeromedical examiner. If not, the student will be deemed as unfit for solo flight.

But it is recommended that the student complete at least five hours of supervised flight on the training aircraft and three hours of ground briefing.

Before application of flight skill test, students must undergo theoretical examinations in 9 common subjects supervised and corrected by the IAA. This will be taught through ground courses available throughout the year. After the student attains sufficient amount of knowledge, they must pass a mock exam before being deemed knowledgeable for the official examination. The subjects are:
